Underpinning
Sometimes a property's footings or foundations can become unstable.
This can be caused by dry weather conditions drying out the ground (especially in clay areas) which leads to shrinkage, or it may be that the original footings were simply not strong enough in the first place.
When these conditions dictate, it may be necessary to excavate underneath the original footings to strengthen by extending depth and/or width of the concrete, so it either rests on a more supportive stratum or spreads its load over a greater area.
CPS can carry out test excavations to determine depth and width of present footings and check the type of bearing strata. If remedial underpinning is required we offer the complete service.
