Cavity Wall Tie Replacement
Earlier cavity wall construction used iron or mild steel to stabilise or 'tie' the inner and outer leaves of the wall together.
These older types of ties are susceptible to corrosion due to moisture and oxygen, newer ties have a galvanised finish and therefore do not corrode.
When the older ties corrode they break down and allow the two leaves to part, this can cause bowing of the inner or outer leaves. Even worse cases can lead to complete wall failure as shown in the adjacent picture.
CPS can test the construction of the wall ties by locating two or more ties and removing the adjacent brick.
If found to be corroded CPS offer a full replacement service.
