When timbers become damp, due to rising or lateral penetration, they become more susceptible to the germination of wet and dry rot fungi. Either of these types of fungi can have a massive detrimental effect on the structural integrity of any property. Left untreated they can lead to anything from rotting window frames to full roof collapse.
